One day Inclusive workshop building resilience and countering radical perspectives for media students and journalists if Balochistan

Quetta (City Desk): Despite the country's enormous diversity in terms of religions, beliefs, cultures, languages, etc., religious fanaticism remains an issue. As seen in the demolition of the Church blast in Quetta, as well as by the frequent violence against Shias, Hazaras, and other populations, extremism has taken the form of acts of violence against adherents of different branches of Islam. Even if it is peaceful, this culture of intolerance may have an impact on young people by either making them the targets of violent language or by making them themselves intolerable.

In this context, Peaceflix has created an advocacy campaign for interfaith harmony that includes a vital group of citizens. This workshop aims to promote interfaith tolerance by dispelling myths and preconceptions about various faiths and groups in the country, as well as instilling concepts such as critical thinking, positive thinking, and empathy, in an effort to make the youth less susceptible to intolerance that has plagued Pakistan for many years.

Furthermore, the workshops intend for students to teach what they have learned to others.

For the promotion of peace and stability, a workshop was organized in Quetta for the Media students of different universities and the journalists of Quetta Balochistan by Peace Flix at "Quetta Press Club". On this occasion, the speakers ensured peace, interfaith, and harmony is a very important element in society. The basic purpose of this workshop is to reduce the tendencies of favoritism, promote interfaith, preserve cultural diversity, and ensure peace and prosperity by building and promoting strength among different fraternities and brothers.

Senior Journalist Manzoor Ahmed assisted in expressing his views while addressing a workshop under the auspices of Sana Akhtar Peace Builder. He told the media students and journalists that peace is very important in our reporting as well as in society. He said that Peace journalism is very important for journalists because when they adopt peace with researched data in their reporting then it should be fair and balanced.

Through peace journalism, we can also highlight the minorities’ issues, how to counter terrorism, or also promote interfaith and harmony. On this occasion, he also told the journalists about his experience during field reporting. Besides this, he focuses on Solution journalism because nowadays the world and journalism tactics are moving very fast and the journalists of Balochistan were not aware or using the concept of Solution journalism. So, he said that journalists should use facts and figures in their stories for better support in the future. For this reason, it should be factual and should include all information that covers the issues or any relevant content in the area and has an impact on the news and the work and role of journalists to strengthen people's problems can easily reach the higher authorities.

Another journalist from Bol News Muhammad Ghazanfar said, that one should take care of him/herself and their team members during conflict-sensitive reporting in conflict zones, because there have been many incidents, due to which many journalists have been martyred due to these accidents. After that, try to access the news and ensure the safety of yourself and your staff while reporting. At the end, the speakers also distributed shields and certificates among the participants.
